The Best Diving in Costa Rica
Las Catalinas Islands offer some of the finest coastal diving in Costa Rica, with year-round opportunities and an incredible variety of marine life. Boasting over 12 exceptional dive sites, Las Catalinas is a must-visit destination for any diving enthusiast planning a trip to Costa Rica.

These islands are particularly renowned for sightings of the majestic Giant Pacific Manta Rays, which are most commonly seen during the winter months from December through May.

The prime diving season for both Las Catalinas and the nearby Bat Islands runs from June to October, when the ocean is warm, clear, and brimming with marine activity. Water temperatures range from 21°C / 70°F in winter to 28°C / 83°F from spring through fall.

Whether you're a certified diver, a snorkeler, or trying scuba diving for the first time, Las Catalinas dive sites offer something for every level of experience.

If you're staying in Tamarindo, Reserva Conchal, Brasilito, Playa Flamingo, Surfside, Potrero, or Las Catalinas Resort, Las Catalinas dive trips are easily accessible.

The rich biodiversity around the islands includes White Tip Reef Sharks, Eagle Rays, Devil Rays, Cow Nose Rays, Sea Turtles, Dolphins, Moray Eels, Puffer Fish, Octopus, Seahorses, and massive schools of Jacks and Grunts.

From February to March and again from July to October, we are fortunate to host Humpback Whales, which migrate to the area to give birth. Sightings are frequent during these months, and divers are often serenaded by their haunting whale songs throughout the dives.
